Waymacres Homeless Ministry
Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Metropolitan Area, USA
We recently welcomed an amazing woman to our fellowship who is living outside in Allentown. Asking for nothing, only sharing her strong faith in the Lord and rejoicing in His constant protection and provision, she shared with us her first hand experience of homelessness and the struggles that our sisters and brothers face RIGHT NOW. There have been numerous instances of towns and cities slashing tents and bulldozing the camps where the homeless are living. It’s unconscionable. Access to resources is getting increasingly difficult with the government shut downs and increased bureaucratic “red tape”. We believe charity is the primary responsibility of the Christian and of humanity - that we ought not depend on the government or a 501c(3) to care for our brethren appropriately. That is why our grassroots fellowship, with no political, governmental or public assistance or dependance, is raising money and taking donations to deliver directly into the hands of those in need. We’ll be going into the known areas where the homeless populations of our community gather and live to meet their immediate physical needs as well as to minister to their hearts and souls through fellowship and the sharing of God’s love through His Word.
Blue Mountain Christian Retreat
New Ringgold, PA, USA
We're blessed to live so close to such an amazing place. Being home on the farm and homeschooling our kids allows us to be available to neighbors and nonprofits like Blue Mountain Christian Retreat when the need arises! This place hosts many different events and groups throughout the year and is run by dear friends of ours. That is why, whenever they call, wether it be to help split wood, assemble beds for their updated cottages or help update the handicap ramps on some of the buildings, we're blessed to say yes!
Parkland Cares
Allentown, PA
The boys and their Nana & Papa spend time packing boxes and snack bags for this amazing organization. They deliver them to the local schools to send home with kids in need. We're so grateful our parents live so close and have such big hearts because the boys get to participate in the service work they do when they're together every week!
Pediatric Cancer Foundation of Lehigh Valley
Allentown, PA, USA
Another local organization that our family supports is PCFLV. Joe's mother is on the board and also has a small business that operates completely by donation and raises tens of thousands of dollars a year for this cause. The kids get to spend time during the holidays helping to shop for families that are in need and visiting with pediatric cancer patients during treatments etc. We've been doing this for the past 5+ years and it's such a great organization that supports patients and their families!
Hope Rescue Mission
Reading, PA, USA
This rescue mission is one of the first places we began taking the kids to serve. We volunteer with a local church and with groups of friends to bring, prepare and serve a meal to the men in the shelter. The boys enjoy helping the disabled residents carry their trays, keeping their drinks filled and bringing them seconds when the line has made its first pass. They also enjoy clearing the trays for the men. The men this place serves are so gracious, kind and thoughtful. They've blessed us far more than we've blessed them!
